His coach, Darren Cahill, emphasized that Sinner is an 'innocent victim' of an unfortunate situation, where the substance entered his system due to a physiotherapist using an over-the-counter spray to treat his own injury. The International Tennis Integrity Agency accepted Sinner's explanation, determining that there was 'no fault or negligence' on his part. Cahill highlighted that Sinner's case was handled with clarity compared to other doping controversies, such as that of Simona Halep, and emphasized the challenges faced by lower-ranked players in similar situations. Despite the controversy affecting Sinner's ranking points and prize money from the BNP Paribas Open, he is allowed to compete in the upcoming US Open.
