Utica bank robbery
The Bank of Utica was robbed on Friday morning around 9:30 a.m. by a male suspect who handed a note to a teller claiming he had a weapon and demanding cash. Following the robbery, which involved an undisclosed amount of money, Utica Police quickly identified and detained two suspects, James Perkins, 60, and Christy Roper, 42, both from Hamden, Connecticut. Both individuals face multiple charges, including 2nd degree robbery and various degrees of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police recovered proceeds from the robbery and a significant quantity of narcotics during a search warrant execution at the suspects' location. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and the investigation is ongoing with support from local and federal agencies. The bank remains closed as authorities continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews.
