Mark Attanasio Sued for Illegal Sand Extraction

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio is facing a lawsuit from his Malibu neighbor, James Kohlberg, accusing him of using heavy machinery to illegally extract sand from Broad Beach for a construction project on his property. The lawsuit, filed by Kohlberg's Los Trancos Management Services LLC, alleges that Attanasio's actions have restricted public access to the beach, endangered marine life with hazardous residues, and violated the California Coastal Act. Attanasio's attorney insists that all activities were fully permitted and compliant with regulations. The legal dispute has prompted an investigation by the California Coastal Commission, although no work stoppage order has been issued. Attanasio purchased the properties involved for a combined total of nearly $30 million.
