Hit-and-run in Cypresswood

In Harris County, La Tonya Fritts was arrested for a hit-and-run incident on July 22, after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash on Cypresswood Drive. Constable Mark Herman confirmed that she was charged with Failure to Stop and Give Information and booked into Harris County Jail. Meanwhile, in Birmingham, 27-year-old Sammus Hakeem Strickland was arrested for a deadly hit-and-run that occurred on June 16, which resulted in the death of 84-year-old Erwin Ellis Curtis. Curtis, who was crossing the road in his wheelchair when struck, succumbed to his injuries on July 5. Strickland faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident with injury or death, and he is currently held in Jefferson County Jail. Both cases highlight serious concerns regarding road safety and accountability for drivers involved in such incidents.
