Belleville man arrested

Robert E. Hyde Jr., a 48-year-old man from Belleville, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Kenyatta Brown. Brown was found dead from a gunshot wound on June 12 in the 1300 block of 45th Street, East St. Louis. The case was presented to St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric the following day, leading to the murder charge against Hyde. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Caseyville on July 29 and is currently held at the St. Clair County Jail. There has been no explanation for the delay between the charge being filed and Hyde's arrest. His court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
