Rodney Childers Joins Spire Motorsports in 2025

Rodney Childers, a renowned NASCAR crew chief, has signed a multiyear deal to join Spire Motorsports as Corey LaJoie's crew chief starting in 2025. This move follows the announcement of Stewart-Haas Racing's downsizing, which left Childers as a highly coveted free agent. Childers, who led Kevin Harvick to the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship, brings extensive experience and success, having more wins than any other active crew chief in the Cup Series. Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson expressed enthusiasm about the hire, emphasizing Childers' hall-of-fame credentials and the immediate positive impact expected on the team. Ryan Sparks, currently serving dual roles at Spire, will transition solely to competition director, a move he himself suggested to facilitate Childers' hiring.
