May Records Broken at Multiple U.S. Airports
Airports in New York-New Jersey, Phoenix-Mesa, West Virginia, and Austin all experienced record-breaking passenger traffic in May 2024. The Port Authority of NY and NJ reported a record 13 million passengers, with international travel up by 7% and significant Memorial Day weekend numbers. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport saw over 145,000 passengers, attributing the increase to new terminal facilities and added destinations. West Virginia International Yeager Airport had a 21% increase in travelers, boosted by new flights from Breeze Airways. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport also hit an all-time high with over 2 million passengers in May, anticipating continued growth in the coming months.
