16-Year-Old Hezly Rivera Joins Olympic Team
16-year-old Hezly Rivera has secured her spot on the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, joining veterans Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey. Rivera, who trains at WOGA in Plano, Texas, impressed the selection committee with her high scores on the uneven bars and balance beam, and her overall performance at the Olympic trials. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in her gymnastics career, which began at age five. Despite being the youngest member of Team USA, Rivera's talent and composure have earned her the respect and mentorship of her seasoned teammates. Veteran gymnast Laurie Hernandez praised Rivera for her consistency and clean gymnastics. Rivera's inclusion in the team adds a fresh perspective and bolsters the U.S. team's chances of reclaiming the top podium spot after settling for silver in 2020.
