Rajnath Singh Releases Coin for Karunanidhi

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released a Rs 100 commemorative coin to honor the birth centenary of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) patriarch M Karunanidhi, lauding him as a 'titan' of Indian politics. The event, attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and other prominent leaders, recognized Karunanidhi's influence and contributions beyond Tamil Nadu, his advocacy for social justice, and his role in national politics. Singh's tribute emphasized Karunanidhi's resilience, his tenure as a five-time chief minister, and his commitment to the diversity and federalism of Indian democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also acknowledged Karunanidhi's legacy, with Modi calling him 'one of India’s most illustrious sons'. The commemorative coin features Karunanidhi's portrait and celebrates his life and achievements. The ceremonies included floral tributes at his memorial in Chennai and highlighted his impact on Tamil Nadu and Indian politics.
