Woman Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping in Santa Monica

Courtney Perrone, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested in Santa Monica after attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl by claiming to be a 'Russian police officer.' The incident occurred when the girl was helping a neighbor load pets into a vehicle, and Perrone reportedly put her arms around the child, leading to a physical struggle with the neighbor. When confronted, Perrone threatened the neighbor with a switchblade knife before fleeing the scene, but was later located nearby. Perrone has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple arrests for assault and battery, and is currently on probation for an assault with a deadly weapon charge. She is set to be arraigned on felony charges of attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment. The child was unharmed during the incident.
