Former Major League Baseball pitcher Reyes Moronta, 31, died in a traffic accident near his home in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. Moronta, who played for the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Los Angeles Angels, was confirmed deceased by his Mexican League team, the Bravos de León. Known for his stellar seasons with the Giants in 2018 and 2019, Moronta had a career ERA of 3.05 and 202 strikeouts over 177 games. His passing has been mourned by the MLB community, including statements from the Mexican Baseball League and the MLB Players Association. Moronta's accident reportedly occurred near his father's house, and he was recently set to join Aguilas Cibaeñas for the Dominican Winter League.
