BJP Prepares for Jammu and Kashmir Elections
Ch. Sukhnandan Kumar, a senior BJP leader, urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to support the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections, praising the party's governance and developmental achievements under Prime Minister Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The BJP plans to contest approximately 60 to 70 seats in the elections, which will occur in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with results announced on October 4. The party has decided not to ally with any political group but will support strong independent candidates in constituencies where it does not field candidates. A high-level BJP meeting discussed strategies and candidate selections for the elections, with Prime Minister Modi expected to hold a significant rally in the Kashmir Valley. This elections marks a significant political moment as it is the first assembly election since the abrogation of Article 370 and the dissolution of the assembly in 2018. Meanwhile, other parties like the National Conference and Congress are preparing their alliances and candidate lists for the upcoming polls.
