Approximately 30 firefighters from six stations have been battling a significant moorland fire in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, since 22:50 BST on Saturday, although the cause remains unknown. The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service reported a 'large fire front' but reassured the public that there is 'no need for alarm', urging people to avoid the area. In a separate incident, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a hay fire around 5:44 PM on August 31, successfully controlling the blaze. Additionally, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is managing a straw stack fire near Yaxley, Peterborough, keeping crews on-site throughout the night to prevent spread and advising residents to close windows to avoid smoke inhalation. These incidents highlight ongoing fire challenges in different regions, underscoring the need for vigilance and safety measures.
