Person of Interest in Custody for Central Park Assault

A person of interest has been taken into custody for the attempted rape of a 21-year-old woman who was sunbathing in Central Park on June 24. The suspect, who has not been charged yet, is linked to the incident through DNA evidence and has a history of sexual assault. The attack took place in the Great Hill section of the park, where the man exposed himself and tackled the woman, but she managed to fight him off and scream, causing him to flee. The NYPD released a sketch of the suspect, described as a Black man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall with a short beard, curly hair, and a medium build. This incident is part of a troubling increase in violent crimes in Central Park, including robberies and random attacks.
