Two Charged in East Bay Freeway Shooting
Elias Nathaniel Jimenez, 22, and Maria Rosalia Martinez, 43, face multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, for a shooting incident on Interstate 880 in Hayward on August 6. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office announced the charges, which also include assault with a semi-automatic firearm and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, highlighting the seriousness of the crime. DA Pamela Price emphasized the dangers of shooting from a moving vehicle and expressed her commitment to holding accountable those who use guns for violent acts. If convicted, Jimenez could face a maximum sentence of 23 years and nine months, while Martinez could face up to 13 years and two months. Both defendants are scheduled for a bail hearing on August 27. Fortunately, no one was struck by bullets during the incident, although two victims were injured in a related crash.
