Botswana Unveils 2,492-Carat Diamond Discovery
Lucara Diamond Corp has discovered a massive 2,492-carat diamond at the Karowe Mine in Botswana, making it the largest diamond found in over a century and the second-largest ever unearthed. The diamond, which weighs approximately half a kilogram, was uncovered using Lucara's advanced Mega Diamond Recovery X-ray technology. The discovery was celebrated by Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who unveiled the stone at a ceremony and expressed his amazement. While the diamond's quality and exact value have not been disclosed, estimates suggest it could be worth upwards of $40 million. This find further cements Botswana's status as a significant player in the global diamond industry.
