Modi Begins Historic Visit to Brunei and Singapore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a historic visit to Brunei from September 3-4, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country and coinciding with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The visit underscores India's commitment to strengthening ties with Southeast Asia under the 'Act East' policy, focusing on areas such as defence, trade, energy, and technology. Following Brunei, Modi will travel to Singapore from September 4-5 to review the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and discuss further collaborations. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the strategic significance of Brunei in India's vision for a stable Indo-Pacific. During his travels, Modi will engage with leaders in both nations to explore new avenues for cooperation, particularly in maritime security and sustainable development. This diplomatic mission is seen as a response to China's growing assertiveness in the region, reinforcing India's role as a key player in Southeast Asia.
