Dinesh Karthik Highlights Jaiswal's Backup Role

Dinesh Karthik has suggested that Yashasvi Jaiswal will serve as a backup opener for India in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill expected to continue as the primary opening pair. Karthik believes the management is unlikely to change the successful combination of Rohit and Shubman, especially given their strong performances. Jaiswal, despite his impressive records in Tests and T20s, has not yet made his ODI debut and will have to wait for his chance unless Shubman does not perform as expected. India has only three ODIs left before the Champions Trophy, limiting opportunities for experimentation. Karthik emphasized that the team would prefer to maintain consistency and not disrupt their batting lineup ahead of the tournament. The Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025, although India's participation is uncertain due to political tensions.
