Andhra Pradesh to Reopen Anna Canteens on August 15

Anna Canteens, aimed at providing quality food to the poor at affordable prices, will reopen in Andhra Pradesh on August 15 under the initiative of Minister Ponguru Narayana. During the TDP government's term, 2.25 lakh people were served daily meals at these canteens for Rs 5, but they were shut down by the YSRCP government. The plan involves repurposing existing buildings into canteens, with tenders already called for food supplies. Additionally, efforts are underway to address water contamination issues leading to diarrhoea cases in certain areas, with Rs 50 crore allocated for municipal drain desilting works and a focus on disease prevention measures.
