Severe Flooding Displaces Hundreds in Maharashtra

Severe rainfall across Maharashtra has led to significant flooding and evacuations, particularly in Pune and Thane districts. In Pune, approximately 400 residents were relocated from inundated housing societies, with the army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) assisting in rescue operations. The Khadakwasla Dam released water due to capacity issues, exacerbating flooding in low-lying areas, including Sinhagad Road. Thane district also experienced emergency evacuations as the Ulhas and Kalu rivers exceeded alert levels, prompting local authorities to relocate over 230 residents. The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for continued heavy rainfall, anticipating further challenges in the affected regions. The death toll from rain-related incidents across the state has reached 15, highlighting the severity of the situation.
