House Committee Subpoenas Columbia University Officials
The House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), issued six subpoenas to Columbia University officials as part of an ongoing investigation into antisemitism on campus. This move follows the resignation of former president Minouche Shafik amidst criticisms over her handling of pro-Palestinian protests and antisemitic incidents. Rep. Foxx accused the university of obstructing the investigation by failing to turn over necessary documents. The subpoenas demand communications related to Jewish students and antisemitic incidents, as well as Board of Trustees meeting minutes. Interim President Katrina Armstrong and other key officials are required to comply by September 4. Columbia has stated it is committed to combating antisemitism and will continue to cooperate with the investigation.
