Karnataka's new chief secretary
N.B.S. Rajput has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Governor of Odisha after a successful tenure in Central Deputation, bringing over 24 years of civil service experience. Meanwhile, Saswata Mishra, a 1996 batch IAS officer, has taken on the role of Principal Secretary of the Finance Department in Odisha, while continuing his responsibilities in the Energy Department. In Karnataka, Shalini Rajneesh has been named the new Chief Secretary, succeeding her husband Rajneesh Goel, who is retiring. Shalini, a top performer in her batch and an experienced administrator, has previously implemented significant initiatives such as 'Sakala', enhancing government efficiency. Her appointment marks her as the fifth woman to assume this top bureaucratic role in Karnataka. The Karnataka government is also considering forming inter-departmental teams to improve coordination among ministers on overlapping issues.
