Ukrainian Foreign Minister Visits Hong Kong
During his visit to Hong Kong on July 25, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba urged Chief Executive John Lee to take action against Russia's use of Hong Kong to evade Western sanctions imposed due to its aggression in Ukraine. Kuleba emphasized the necessity of these sanctions to weaken Russia's war capabilities and protect Hong Kong's reputation as a liberal economy that respects the rule of law. The discussions also included opportunities for trade and investment between Ukraine and Hong Kong, particularly in the context of Ukraine's recovery. Kuleba raised concerns about the protection of Ukrainian citizens' rights in Hong Kong and held separate talks with local business representatives about cooperation prospects. His visit followed discussions with Chinese officials concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
