Champai Soren Spying Allegations Amid Election Tensions

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Jharkhand government of spying on former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren, who is set to join the BJP. Sarma claimed that Jharkhand Police had been tracking Soren for five months, allegedly under orders from high-ranking officials, and cited incidents where two sub-inspectors were caught following Soren in Delhi. The accusations include suspicions of phone tapping and a possible honeytrap attempt, as a woman was seen with the officers. This controversy arises ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections, expected to be announced in September. Champai Soren, who recently resigned from the JMM, has criticized the party for deviating from its principles, citing threats to tribal identity due to infiltration from Bangladesh. Neither Soren nor the Jharkhand Police have confirmed the FIR, and the allegations remain under investigation.
