AES Corporation has launched Maximo, an AI-powered robot designed to revolutionize solar panel installation by performing tasks twice as quickly and at half the cost compared to human workers. Maximo addresses critical challenges in the solar industry, including labor shortages and the need for safer, more efficient construction methods. The robot, which has already been deployed at the Oak Ridge Solar project in Louisiana, is set to assist in the construction of the Bellefield solar-plus-storage project in California, the largest of its kind in the U.S. Notably, Maximo automates heavy lifting while ensuring precision and safety, allowing human workers to focus on less strenuous tasks. AES emphasizes that Maximo will not replace human jobs but rather enhance workforce capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
