Ami Dadaon Wins Gold at Paris Paralympics
Israeli swimmer Ami Dadaon has had a remarkable start at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, winning a gold medal in the men’s 100m freestyle S4 event with a time of 1:20.25, following a new Paralympic record of 1:19.33 in the heats. Dadaon's victory marks the second gold for Israel in the Games, after taekwondo fighter Asaf Yasur secured gold on Thursday. Dadaon, who has cerebral palsy, is set to compete in additional events, including the 150m individual medley and 200m freestyle. Meanwhile, fellow Israeli swimmer Mark Malyar also qualified for finals in the men’s 200m individual medley SM8 category. In separate events, shooter Yulia Chernoy finished 16th in the mixed 10m air rifle prone, and Malaysian athletes had varied results, with para cyclist Adi Raimie Amizazahan finishing fifth in his event. The Paralympics continue to showcase the determination and achievements of athletes from diverse backgrounds.
