Oak Ridge Boys' Joe Bonsall Dies at 76
Joe Bonsall, a longtime member of the Oak Ridge Boys, passed away on July 9, 2024, at age 76 due to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Bonsall, who joined the group in 1973, played a pivotal role in its crossover success with hits like 'Elvira,' 'Bobbie Sue,' and 'American Made.' He was also an accomplished author and a member of multiple Halls of Fame, including the Country Music Hall of Fame. Bonsall announced his retirement from touring in January 2024 due to his declining health. He is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In lieu of a funeral, donations can be made to The ALS Association or the Vanderbilt Medical Center ALS and Neuroscience Research Center.
