French police officer injured
An explosion outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, France, injured a police officer on Saturday morning during what authorities described as a deliberate arson attack. Two vehicles were set ablaze, one containing a gas canister, leading to the explosion that occurred around 8 a.m. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a possible terrorist act, with heightened security measures now in place for Jewish institutions following a rise in anti-Semitic incidents across France. The police have since arrested a suspect connected to the attack, who was seen leaving the scene wearing a keffiyeh and carrying a Palestinian flag. Fortunately, five individuals inside the synagogue at the time were unharmed. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and Darmanin are expected to visit the site to show support for the local community.
