Sinner and Sabalenka Advance to Cincinnati Semifinals
Aryna Sabalenka defeated top-ranked Iga Swiatek 6-3, 6-3 in the Cincinnati Open semifinals, avenging previous losses to Swiatek on clay courts earlier this year. Sabalenka will face the winner of the semifinal between Jessica Pegula and Paula Badosa in the final. Swiatek had earlier battled through a challenging quarterfinal against 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva, winning 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner advanced to the men's semifinals by overcoming Andrey Rublev 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 under windy conditions. Sinner will face Alexander Zverev in his first Cincinnati semifinal. Frances Tiafoe also advanced to the semifinals after Hubert Hurkacz retired due to injury.
