Delhi Police Officer Injured by Kite String
On Independence Day, two individuals, including a Delhi traffic police officer, were injured by Chinese 'manjha' (kite string) in northeast Delhi. Assistant Sub-Inspector Surendra, 47, suffered deep cuts to his neck when the manjha became entangled while he was riding home from duty. He received treatment at a local hospital and is now stable. In a separate incident, 34-year-old Himanshu Lal was injured while riding a scooter with his wife, with the manjha grazing his throat. The use of synthetic kite strings has been banned in India due to safety concerns, yet incidents continue to occur, prompting police to arrest suppliers of the banned material. Authorities have registered multiple FIRs related to manjha-related injuries this season, highlighting ongoing public safety issues.
