Europe Revamps Ryder Cup Qualification Criteria

Europe has revamped its Ryder Cup qualifying criteria for the 2025 matches at Bethpage Black, consolidating the process into a single points list that emphasizes performance in major championships and key PGA Tour events. The new system will award significant points—5,000 for major tournaments and 3,000 for PGA Tour signature events—while excluding LIV Golf tournaments from earning points. Captain Luke Donald will select six players based on this unified list, replacing the previous dual-list format that considered world ranking and DP World Tour standings. Players must maintain their DP World Tour membership to be eligible, including those who have joined LIV Golf like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, who can still qualify for captain's picks.
