A 7-year-old boy was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting while he was sleeping on Detroit's east side early Monday morning. The incident occurred at around 5 a.m. at a home on Fairmount Drive, where eleven people, including eight children, were present. Police believe the shooting was related to a dispute between adults associated with the home, labeling it an 'extremely cowardice act.' The boy was rushed to a hospital and is currently in stable condition, although the bullet remains lodged in his head, potentially requiring surgery. The suspects responsible for the shooting fled the scene, and authorities are investigating the incident, which may not be gang-related. Detroit Police Chief James White criticized the attack, emphasizing that children should be safe in their own homes.
