Screen Blocking Mount Fuji View Removed
Authorities in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, have removed a large black screen that blocked a popular photo spot of Mount Fuji, known for its view of the mountain seemingly rising over a convenience store. The screen, initially erected in May to deter tourists from overcrowding and causing disruptions, was taken down on August 15 to prevent damage from Typhoon Ampil. Officials noted that since the screen's removal, there have been no significant issues with tourist behavior, and they have no immediate plans to reinstall it unless problems resurface. The measure had been effective in curbing unruly behavior such as littering and jaywalking, which had angered local residents. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and may reinstall the screen if necessary.
