Light Aircraft Crashes in Gloucestershire; Another Fatal
A light aircraft crashed onto the A419 in Gloucestershire, narrowly avoiding a major catastrophe with the pilot and passenger, both members of the Cotswold Gliding Club, walking away with minor injuries despite the plane's wing snapping off and debris scattering across the road. The crash, occurring near Aston Down Airfield, is under investigation by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. Emergency services, including the Great Western Air Ambulance, responded quickly but were stood down as the injuries were not severe. In a separate incident, a pilot died when a small plane crashed during takeoff at Defford Croft Farm airfield in Worcestershire. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is also investigating this fatal crash, which saw the plane descend rapidly to the ground and burst into flames.
