Steve Addison Arrested in Berkeley Homicide
Berkeley police have arrested 57-year-old Steve Addison in connection with the July 3 shooting death of Matthew Gullette, who was found dead outside a halfway house on Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The arrest followed a nearly month-long investigation utilizing surveillance footage and other evidence to identify Addison as the suspect. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase in North Oakland and is being held in the Santa Rita Jail on a no-bail murder warrant. The police have not released a motive for the crime, but noted that Addison has prior convictions and was wanted for a separate charge at the time of the incident. Addison is scheduled for arraignment on August 5. This incident marks Berkeley's second homicide of the year.
