Sinner attributed the positive results to accidental contamination from a spray used by his physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, who has since been dismissed along with fitness coach Umberto Ferrara. Despite being cleared of fault, Sinner faced significant backlash and stress, leading him to make these changes in his team ahead of the US Open. Djokovic and other players have criticized the lack of transparency and consistency in handling such cases, suggesting potential preferential treatment due to Sinner's ranking. Sinner's coach Darren Cahill confirmed that the team changes were necessary for Sinner’s mental well-being as he prepares for the final Grand Slam of the year.
