Homeless Man Found Dead Before Housing Transition

Paul Dono, a 46-year-old man who had been living on the streets, was found dead in a Travelodge hotel room on the day he was to be informed about his new permanent home. His body was discovered by support worker Chloe Henshaw, who had secured accommodation for him after years of battling addiction. An inquest revealed that Dono had struggled with alcohol and drug dependencies since the age of 12, with severe episodes involving substantial alcohol and heroin consumption. Despite his challenges, he was well-liked in the community and had periods of sobriety where he enjoyed family time and fitness. His health issues included epilepsy and liver disease, but these were not considered factors in his death, which was determined to be alcohol-related. The coroner noted a rapid decline in Dono's condition leading up to his death, emphasizing the tragedy of his situation.
