Champions League Introduces New League Phase Format

The UEFA Champions League has introduced a new league phase format for the 2024-25 season, expanding to 36 teams and replacing the traditional group stage. Barcelona, under new coach Hansi Flick, is set to face Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and five other teams in their quest for European glory. Liverpool, with new manager Arne Slot, will play against Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and six other teams. Both clubs will play eight games, four at home and four away, aiming to finish in the top eight for direct knockout stage qualification. Liverpool also bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Federico Chiesa from Juventus. The revamped format aims to bring new excitement and challenges to the competition.
