NYC Corrections Officer Charged with Rape

Anthony Martin Jr., a 32-year-old New York City corrections officer, has been indicted on charges of first-degree rape and sexual abuse after allegedly luring a 20-year-old woman to his home under the guise of being a television producer. The incident occurred on March 26, 2024, when Martin contacted the victim via social media, promising her an audition for a new show. Upon her arrival, Martin was alone and allegedly assaulted her after she attempted to leave. Following the attack, the victim reported the incident to the police and sought medical treatment. Martin, who has pleaded not guilty, faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted and remains suspended without pay from his position. The Queens District Attorney praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward and reaffirmed the office's commitment to supporting survivors of sexual violence.
