Farooq Abdullah Urges Protection of All Religions

Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, emphasized the need to protect all religions in India, highlighting the nation's unity in diversity. His remarks followed the Assam Assembly's decision to abolish a two-hour break for Muslim legislators to perform 'namaz' on Fridays, a practice in place since colonial times. Abdullah stated that changes are inevitable and called for respect towards all faiths, asserting that a positive approach will foster national harmony. He criticized political blame games, particularly in response to comments made by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti regarding the Jamaat-e-Islami's stance on elections. Additionally, he urged citizens to focus on safeguarding the nation rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric. Abdullah paid homage at a Sufi shrine, praying for unity and peace in the country.
