Panama Upsets USA 2-1 in Copa America
Panama secured a surprising 2-1 victory over the United States in their Copa America Group C match in Atlanta, putting the Americans' quarterfinal hopes in jeopardy. The U.S. played almost the entire match with 10 men after Tim Weah was sent off in the 18th minute for a foul. Folarin Balogun initially put the U.S. ahead in the 22nd minute, but Panama equalized shortly after through Cesar Blackman. The decisive goal came in the 83rd minute when Panama's Jose Fajardo scored against backup goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who had replaced an injured Matt Turner. Both teams finished with 10 men after Panama's Adalberto Carrasquilla was sent off in the 88th minute. The U.S. now faces a must-win match against Uruguay to advance to the knockout stages.
