Bharat Biotech Gets Approval for Cholera Vaccine

Bharat Biotech has received approval from India's drug regulator to manufacture and market its novel single-strain oral cholera vaccine, Hillchol, following successful Phase III trials demonstrating its safety and efficacy. The company, in collaboration with Hilleman Laboratories, has established large-scale production facilities in Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar with an annual capacity of 200 million doses. Bharat Biotech plans to seek World Health Organization pre-qualification to supply the vaccine globally, targeting high-need areas like Africa. Meanwhile, Germany has pledged to donate 100,000 doses of mpox vaccine to African countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, and to support local vaccine production through partnerships with the African Union.
