Two Charged with Murder of Tiffani Scholten

Two individuals, Carrissa Kaye Scholten, 36, and Aaron Paul Richardson, 37, have been charged with the murder of 12-year-old Tiffani Scholten, who was found unresponsive at their Gold Coast home on April 18, 2022. Tiffani, who had a complex medical history including Rett syndrome and epilepsy, was described as 'extremely emaciated' at the time of her discovery. Police launched a thorough investigation, dubbed Operation Uniform Zoysia, which culminated in the arrests nearly two years later as evidence suggested insufficient care contributed to her death. The pair appeared in Southport Magistrates Court and are scheduled for a follow-up hearing on November 8. Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher emphasized the emotional toll of the case on investigators and expressed hope that the arrests would provide some solace to the community.
