Nets Acquire Ziaire Williams from Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have traded forward Ziaire Williams and a 2030 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for forward Mamadi Diakite. Williams, a former first-round pick, struggled to maintain a spot in Memphis' rotation and is expected to have more developmental opportunities in Brooklyn. The trade helps the Grizzlies reduce their salary commitments and puts them roughly $14 million below the first tax apron. Diakite, who has played 55 NBA games, offers a more manageable salary, aiding Memphis' financial flexibility. Additionally, Memphis receives the draft rights to Serbian guard Nemanja Dangubic. This move could also facilitate the Grizzlies' efforts to re-sign guard Luke Kennard.
