Airtel Payments Bank has launched a new smartwatch integrated with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) technology and a RuPay chip, in collaboration with Noise and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Revealed at the Global Fintech Fest 2024, the smartwatch facilitates contactless payments at merchant locations and transit systems across India, supporting tap-and-pay transactions. Users can make payments up to Rs. 5,000 without a PIN and enjoy health monitoring features such as heart rate and blood oxygen saturation tracking. The device also boasts customizable watch straps and a water-resistant design. Executives from Airtel and Noise emphasized the smartwatch's potential to redefine digital payments and enhance daily life. The smartwatch will be available for purchase online and at retail locations soon.
