Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Lieutenant General Yurii Sodol from his position as Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces, replacing him with Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov. This decision follows accusations from Bogdan Krotevych, chief of staff of the Azov brigade, who alleged that Sodol's incompetence and poor leadership resulted in significant Ukrainian casualties. Zelenskyy did not specify the reasons for Sodol's removal in his announcement, but the move comes amid ongoing personnel changes and military challenges as Russian forces advance in eastern Ukraine. Additionally, Zelenskyy emphasized the focus on the Donetsk Region and expressed intentions to strengthen the Defense Forces in response to recent Russian missile strikes in Pokrovsk. This is the second high-profile military dismissal this year, following the removal of Valeriy Zaluzhnyi in February due to disagreements with Zelenskyy over war strategy.
