Heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is facing severe disruptions due to continuous heavy rainfall, with over 190 roads closed statewide, particularly affecting Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla. A recent cloudburst event has left at least 50 people missing and claimed eight lives, with ongoing rescue operations involving 410 personnel from various agencies. The local weather office has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rains continuing until August 7, as moderate to heavy showers persist, causing significant infrastructure damage. Since June 27, rain-related incidents have resulted in 77 fatalities and economic losses amounting to Rs 655 crore. The Himachal Roads Transport Corporation has suspended bus services on 82 routes, exacerbating the impact on mobility in the region. Emergency operations are actively working to assist stranded individuals, including pilgrims en route to Kedarnath.
