Comedian Mark Simmons has won the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival's Funniest Joke award with his nautical-themed joke: 'I was going to sail around the globe in the world’s smallest ship but I bottled it.' This accolade, organized by TV channel U&Dave, was selected by a public vote from a shortlist compiled by comedy critics. Simmons, who has participated in the festival for over a decade, had another joke in the top five this year and previously ranked 2nd, 6th, and 9th in past competitions. This year's top 15 list also included jokes from comedians like Alec Snook and Chelsea Birkby, showcasing a blend of diverse humor. Simmons expressed his delight, humorously noting his recent job loss as an exam marker.
