Venezuela Defeats Ecuador 2-1 in Copa America Opener
Venezuela secured a 2-1 victory over Ecuador in a thrilling Copa America match on Saturday. Ecuador's captain, Enner Valencia, was sent off in the 22nd minute for a dangerous challenge, leaving his team to play with ten men for most of the game. Despite this, Ecuador managed to take the lead in the 40th minute with a goal from Jeremy Sarmiento. However, Venezuelan substitutes Jhonder Cadiz and Eduard Bello scored in the second half to overturn the deficit. Cadiz netted the equalizer in the 64th minute, and Bello clinched the win in the 74th minute. Venezuelan fans also used the occasion to chant political slogans ahead of their presidential election.
