Modi and Albanese Strengthen India-Australia Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India spoke with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to review their bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums, including the Quad. Modi expressed his delight in a post on X, emphasizing the progress made in their collaboration. The Quad, established in 2017 involving India, Japan, the US, and Australia, aims to ensure the security of critical sea routes in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar previously met with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong to discuss enhancing ties in security, trade, and education. Wong announced that Australia will invest over USD 18 million in a new Cable Connectivity and Resilience Centre to support undersea cable networks in the Indo-Pacific, vital for the region's digital economy. This ongoing dialogue underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their partnership and address regional challenges.
